Every year we reflect on the extraordinary sacrifice Prophet Ibrahim (AS) was willing to make for Allah (swt) and how we have the opportunity to provide for those in need on Eid Al-Adha.

Iraq remains to suffer with significant challenges, including political and security problems, economic instability, social unrest due to high levels of unemployment and continuous low standards of living.

In 2022, around 460 million people in Africa were living in extreme poverty. The number of poor people on the continent increased compared to the previous years. With the added challenges of the pandemic, surging food prices and rising global inequality, the people in Africa are living with terrifying circumstances.

This year, with your help, Imam Hussein Charity can provide fresh nutritious meat to vulnerable families in Iraq, Africa, Shaam and Afghanistan on Eid al-Adha.

Donate online and give your Qurbani today. Imam Hussein Charity ensures that your gift will help families experience an Eid of dignity and joy.

Let’s join together this Eid al-Adha for the sake of our Ummah.

FAQ

What is Qurbani?

Qurbani is an annual religious sacrifice of an animal (sheep, goats, and cattle) between the tenth and twelfth days of Dhul Hijjah.

This sacrifice commemorates the noble actions of the blessed Prophet Ibraheim when he was prepared to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of devotion to Allah (SWT).

By honouring this annual sacrifice, we are reaffirming that we are willing to sacrifice whatever Allah asks of us and to submit to Him completely.

We called to him, “O Ibrahim, you have fulfilled the vision. Indeed, we thus reward the doers of good. Indeed, this was a clear trial.”

Qur’an 37:104

Who is Qurbani Compulsory for?

Qurbani is only compulsory for those who are in Hajj, however it is highly recommended for all Muslims.

“Who give to charity during the good times, as well as the bad times. They are suppressors of anger, and pardoners of the people. GOD loves the charitable.”

Qu’ran 3:134

When is Qurbani due?

Qurbani is due after Eid prayer on the first day of Eid Al-Adha until 13th Dhul Hijjah. However it is advisable to donate as early as possible to ensure there is enough time for allocation and preparation.

How many people can contribute to a single goat Qurbani on Eid al-Adha?

For a mustahab (recommended) Qurbani, any number of people can contribute and share the thawab of one Qurbani.

Can Qurbani be done on behalf of deceased parents or other relatives?

You are able to offer a sacrificial animal on behalf of anyone, and have the intention of being for the reward and benefit of that person/s, alive or deceased. And Allah knows best.
